I spend a large percentage of my time online at home, not neccissarely on the computer, but on the internet of my phone. I am always on facebook just seeing what everyone is doing. I dont spend a large percentage on research and chatting and stuff like that, most if not all of it is spent just on the social networking site. The other percent would be downloading music, on rhapsody, or playin some games. Other than that i do not do anything else online.
I think that morriscounty is very similair to our community. ALL of the things that happened there happen right where we are today. Children commit suicide all the time, there are people with eating disorders, the people in that video are just like anywhere else in America.
We use media in the classroom everyday, right now i am using it. High School and Middle School use it more often than younger children, just because they can better grasp it and they somewhat depend on it. The least common use of media that was shown in the video that i do not see much here is the podcasting of classes. I do not know of any teachers in our school that podcast their lessons. However, I do think that is a pretty good idea to do so incase you miss the class you can get updated on what all you learned.
Facebook and Myspace are a place you can make your own. Your bedroom you can customize however you want by color and all that, but on myspace and facebook you are sharing that information with the world. That is why you must take caution in what you put on the internet.
The video of the fight effected many people. It effected the girls in it because anyone could watch that video and that is embarassing. When you are applying for a job or college anybody who is reviewing you as an applicant can see that video. Once it is on the internet, it is on the internet. It can not be erased. Teachers and Administrators of the school were probably embarassed by the video too. They did not want people fighting in their school that they are supposed to be keeping control of. An exchange student in China could be frightened by the video they saw of the American School because that is what they are soon going to become a part of.
A postive aspect of blurring the line of a regular person and a celebrity is that if you were trying to become a celebrity the media has made it a lot easier to do so in somways. There are many star who first made a youtube video or something along those lines, and then they are a comedian or a singer. A negative aspect however is ifyou are not trying to be famous and your youtube video gets a million hits. Suddenly a million people know who you are, and that might not be what you intended.
How protective a parent is and a parent child relationship are huge factors in parents monitering their childs useage online. The history button is a very usefull tool because it will track where you child went, however if the kid is smart enough he will have passwords on his social networking sites and could easily delete the history. The tools of tracking in terms of use really depend on the user.
Some short term consequences of cyberbulling are that as soon as you send it they could print it out and the next day you might land yourself in Mike or Dwaynes office. A long term effect could be if you kept on someone for a long time eventually they might take their life, just like we saw in the video we watched.
I do not think about disconnecting. I would never disconnect because i like staying intouch with everyone. It would be hard to do so and i am not doing it. K thanks bye.
